LOOP OUT
Do you have a tendency or skill that helps you flow but that can also get you stuck in the middle, or in a loop?
Let me give you a personal example.
Making refreshing tweaks & shifts is like a built-in feature that I’ve been programmed with. It helps me flow inside and out and it helps me optimize my life and work projects. But… it also has a less flowey side.
While creating the website for tweak and flow, I got into endless-refinement mode. I started making adjustments that felt useful and intentional, until I found myself going back to perfect tiny details. So instead of moving the needle forward, I was basically running in circles.
What now?
I did what I preach—recognized what was going on, stopped creating more self-made hiccups, and did what was needed to help me and my project flow.
How long did it take to publish my new website?
More than needed.
Am I a perfectionist?
I wouldn’t say I am, but I’ll ask my family, friends, and therapist about that!
An astrologer might say that I like tweaking things because a specific planet was in a particular position in the sky when I was conceived. Do people really believe in this astrology stuff? Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t.
Aries sun, Acquarius rising, and Leo Moon: here I am (I just noticed the Ari both in Aries and Arianna—just saying).
So, whether you have a built-in tendency due to a personality trait, a talent, an acquired skill, or your birth chart (I might be a believer), recognize when you’re using it in a way that helps you flow or not.
Yes, there’s always room for improvement in things, people, projects, etc., but don’t get stuck in the middle, or in a loop.
Loop out.
What is a built-in tendency you have that helps you flow, but that can also keep you stuck?
Next time you find yourself in that cycle, look out and loop out.
How?
stop
switch scenario
if you can’t switch scenarios, choose another task that can move the needle forward
move—go get a glass of water or herbal tea
Sometimes all it takes is thirty seconds (no, not to Mars. That’s a great band, though).
Think about how you can make it easier.
You’ll be fine, you can do it.
Speaking of tweaking my website, here is the before-and-after:
